Major Fire Shuts Down The Hard

A massive fire ripped through a flat above the Britannia Chip Shop on The Hard, Portsmouth, this evening. Emergency crews scrambled to the scene just before 8pm as flames broke out shortly after 7.45pm.

Emergency Services in Full Force

Seven fire engines stormed the scene, backed by three paramedics and multiple police squads. Around 40 firefighters from Southsea, Cosham, Havant, Fareham, and more are battling the blaze. An aerial ladder is being used to inspect the roofs of the properties above the chip shop.

One Person Rescued and Hospitalised

Hampshire Fire and Rescue teams pulled one person from the burning building. Paramedics from South Central Ambulance are currently assessing the injured individual’s condition.

Road Closures and Onlookers

All roads surrounding The Hard remain shut as police urge the public to steer clear. Nearby pubgoers from The Ship Anson and The Invincible were evacuated and kept at a safe distance as the dramatic scene unfolded.
