A car explosion on Hayling Island caused chaos as a blazing fireball tore through a garage and set a house ablaze on Creek Road. The dramatic incident unfolded on Tuesday, 1st August, prompting a rapid response from three fire crews from Hayling Island and Havant.
Fireball Destroys Garage, Damages Home
The vehicle suddenly burst into flames before exploding, completely destroying the garage it was in. The fire also spread to the attached house, damaging the external wall and igniting the eaves. Firefighters quickly sprang into action, using two jets and a high-pressure hose reel to curb the flames.
Firefighters’ Swift Response Saves the Day
Thanks to their prompt efforts, crews prevented the fire from causing total destruction and stopped it from gutting the entire property. Three fire engines tackled the blaze until it was fully under control.
Eyewitness Describes Explosive Scene
Barbara Clark, who witnessed the chaos, took to social media: “Everyone is OK but the car blew up in drive and took out an external wall and set light to the eves of the property. Three engines are in attendance and all under control.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but emergency crews praised for their fast response that kept the damage from being far worse.
