Dramatic Rescue as Coastguard Helicopter Finds Missing 81-Year-Old on Isle of Wight

Heart-stopping footage shows the Lee-on-Solent Coastguard Rescue 175 helicopter locating an 81-year-old man missing since Sunday on the Isle of Wight.

Hampshire Constabulary called in HM Coastguard after the elderly man failed to return from his Sunday afternoon walk on 11 February. The search kicked off just after midnight, with multiple teams joining the hunt.

The combined effort scoured the area through the night. Just before 5am, the helicopter spotted the missing walker.

Paramedic Winchman Performs Life-Saving Rescue

The coastguard’s paramedic winchman was lowered down and swiftly winched the man onboard. The pensioner was suffering from hypothermia and rushed to St Mary’s Hospital.

“We wish him a speedy recovery,” said rescuers.
