Kent Firefighters Drill to Halt Nightmare Blaze at Rochester Cathedral
Kent’s bravest put their skills to the test last night with a massive fire drill at the iconic Rochester Cathedral. Over 60 firefighters joined forces in a high-stakes exercise designed to tackle a potentially devastating blaze at the historic 11th-century site.
Training Triggered by Notre Dame Inferno
The drill comes hot on the heels of the shocking Notre Dame fire in Paris. Fire crews wanted to be ready if a similar disaster ever struck the famed Rochester landmark.
High-Tech Gear and Heavy Water Power
Specialist high volume pump crews arrived from across the ME postcode area to back up local teams. A specialist height vehicle was extended to reach the cathedral’s tallest points. Firefighters then tested high-pressure hoses and water branches, running a relay system to check water flow and pressure.
All to ensure they’re fully prepared to protect this precious piece of history from flames.
