Amazon Scam Rings Alert: Customers Tricked Into Handing Over Personal Details
SCAMMERS are targeting Amazon customers with fake calls, tricking them into handing over sensitive personal info.
The cunning con involves a fraudster pretending to be an Amazon employee, claiming your purchase went through due to a “security flaw” on your computer.
Scam Caller Wants Remote Access to Steal Your Data
The caller transfers you to a fraudster who asks for remote access to your computer. Once granted, they can nab your passwords, bank details, and other private info.
The automated call warns your Amazon account will be debited soon – even if you haven’t placed an order.
Fake Number and Shady Tactics
- Scammers use the phone number 0113169155.
- When you try to call back, you get a “number not in service” message.
- Amazon NEVER cold-calls, asks for remote computer access, or requests payment over the phone.
How to Stay Safe
“Do not give any details to the caller, and always verify directly with Amazon by logging into your official account and contacting customer support.”
If you think you’ve fallen victim to this scam, report it immediately to Action Fraud.
