Fugitive Life-Sentence Prisoner Nabbed by Kent Police After 12 Years on the Run

Gary Crafts Caught Living Under Fake Identity in London

Gary Crafts, 66, has finally been tracked down after absconding from prison over a decade ago. The life-sentenced convict was serving time at Stanford Hill Prison when he disappeared in 2008.

Convicted for armed robbery in 1999, Crafts had vanished without a trace—until Kent Police’s Wanted Person Bureau launched a nationwide manhunt. Their hard work paid off when they discovered Crafts hiding in London under a false identity.

Arrested and Returned to Jail

On 7 August 2020, police swooped in and arrested Crafts. He was immediately charged with being unlawfully at large and promptly sent back behind bars to finish his sentence.
