Knife-Wielding Teens Spark Panic Near Tesco
The drama unfolded just after 1.30pm on 20 September, when officers responded to reports of a group of males chasing someone across Drakes Way towards Ocotal Way and the Tesco store. One youth brandished what is believed to be a machete and used it to shatter a stationary car’s window at the traffic lights.
Police Appeal: Help ID the Teenagers
“This is an incident that would have caused people present to fear for their safety,” said PC Tara Plaister. “It is a criminal offence to carry a knife in public and we are doing everything we can to ensure these individuals are brought to justice.”
“This unprovoked attack would have alarmed the driver and passengers of the vehicle.”
Police urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage to come forward quoting crime reference number 54200094740. They also ask parents to keep an eye on their children’s clothing and behaviour at the weekend if they recognise the youths.
Wiltshire Police Warn: Carrying Knives Puts You at Greater Risk
“Statistics show you are far more likely to be stabbed if you carry a knife,” PC Plaister added. “Please do the right thing and help protect your children by telling us if you think they are involved. Incidents like this will not be tolerated by Wiltshire Police.”
