Dion Marshall Found Guilty for Carrying Deadly Knuckle-Duster
Dion Marshall, 31, from Beech Road, Reading, was convicted by a unanimous jury at Reading Crown Court on Friday 30 October. The verdict came after a two-day trial.
Arrested with Hidden Weapon in Friar Street
Marshall was nabbed at 2.05am on Sunday 3 November 2019 in Friar Street, Reading, during an unrelated stop. Taken to Loddon Valley police station, custody officers searched him and found a knuckle-duster disguised as a key ring in his jacket pocket.
The weapon was capable of causing serious injury.
Police Crackdown on Public Weapon Carrying
Charged on 6 February this year via postal requisition, Marshall now faces sentencing at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday 9 December.
PC Marcus Bridger-Wilkinson, from the Reading Stronghold team, said: “The weapon that officers located in Marshall’s jacket pocket had the potential to cause significant injury had it been used.
“Thames Valley Police will not tolerate the carrying of any weapons in a public place, and I am pleased that he has been convicted of this offence.
“I would remind anybody who thinks that it is acceptable to carry a weapon that officers can stop and search individuals if they have reasonable grounds to do so, and we will work tirelessly to ensure weapons are kept off the streets of our communities.”
