Six Years Behind Bars for Brutal Bag Snatch in Bransholme
Bobby Sutherland, from Terry Street, Hull, was locked up for six years after a vicious robbery on Sunday, 20 September. The attack took place on Stroud Crescent East in Bransholme, where Sutherland targeted an elderly woman.
Vulnerable Woman Violently Assaulted
At Hull Crown Court, Sutherland admitted to snatching the defenceless woman’s bag right off her shoulder. He shoved her to the ground, dragged her along the pavement, and left her injured in the street.
Detective Praises Woman’s Bravery
“I must commend the bravery of the lady who fell victim to this disgraceful attack. She tried to fight off Sutherland despite how intent he was on taking what didn’t belong to him,” said Detective Sergeant Andy Bradley.
“I know how much of an impact this has had on her and I hope knowing he is now in prison and unable to do anything like this again brings a small bit of comfort.”
“It is clear that this was a targeted attack on a vulnerable person for personal gain.”
“Acts like these are absolutely inexcusable and will not be tolerated in our communities.”
