Reading Police Launch Stop and Search Blitz After Stabbing
Police in Reading have slapped a Section 60 order across key areas today, giving officers the go-ahead to stop and search anyone without suspicion. The move comes after a stabbing in Battle Square left a man in his twenties seriously hurt.
Serious Stabbing Shakes Reading
The victim was knifed around 1:45pm on Thursday near oxford/" title="Oxford" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Oxford Road. Thankfully, although his injuries were serious, they are not life-threatening. He has since been discharged from hospital. Meanwhile, cops have arrested three suspects linked to the attack.
Section 60 Powers Extended
The order, activated at 5pm yesterday, was renewed until 5pm tomorrow. Police say they’ll review the situation then and could push the powers further if needed.
