Kent Police Roll Out Nightlife Safety Scheme Across All Districts
Kent Police are cracking down on crime in the night with the introduction of the Best Bar None accreditation to all 13 districts in 2022. Backed by the Home Office and drinks industry, this scheme aims to boost safety and raise standards across the county’s nightlife scene.
From Manchester Trial to Award-Winning Success
Originally trialled in Manchester to reward responsible venues and improve operating standards, Best Bar None has now taken Kent by storm. The county scooped the Best New Scheme award for 2022 at a prestigious event held at the House of Lords on February 28, 2023.
Keeping Kent’s Nightlife Safe and Responsible
“Each district faces unique challenges, but all our Best Bar None teams share one goal — to keep communities safe,” said Alan Dann, Kent Police Crime Reduction Manager.
The scheme encourages pubs, clubs, and bars to work closely with police, councils, and partners to reduce crime — especially violence against women and girls — while creating safer, more welcoming venues.
Partners Praise Community Efforts
Community Safety Units have tirelessly signed up venues to Best Bar None, and their hard work has been recognised nationwide. Participating businesses demonstrate top standards in venue management, staff training, customer safety, and community involvement.
“The award is a testament to all agencies within the Community Safety Partnership and their commitment to what matters most to Kent’s communities,” said Kent Police Superintendent Pete Steenhuis.
