Teen Stabber Sentenced to 12 Years for Alleyway Attack
Samuel Jinks, 18, from Partridge Green in Alton, has been handed a hefty 12-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to actual bodily harm and carrying a bladed weapon.
Gruesome Alley Attack Leaves Victim Hospitalised
The shocking stabbing took place on 24 April 2021 following a heated argument between Jinks and his victim. The incident unfolded in a narrow alley between Partridge Green and Yellowhammers.
The victim suffered a puncture wound to the abdomen and needed urgent hospital treatment. Thankfully, he has since made a full recovery.
Judge Adds Sentences for Threatening with Knife
In addition to the main sentence, Jinks was given nine months for threatening another person with a bladed article and one month for possession of the blade. These shorter sentences will run concurrently with his 12-year term.
Police Praise Swift Justice and Community Safety
“This is an act of violence that could have had more severe consequences,” said Detective Constable Peter Watson.
“Jinks was arrested very soon after committing this offence, and I hope this offers reassurance to the community that he has been brought to justice.
“Alton is a safe place to live and work, but we do not rest on our laurels and will work hard to detect and prevent such high harm offences.
“Knife crime is utterly unacceptable, and I am pleased with the result of the court hearing today.”
Jinks was arrested in the early hours of 25 April 2021 and has now been sentenced at Winchester Crown Court.
