Paedophile Robert Kavanagh Jailed for Sex Offender Breaches
Robert Kavanagh has been locked up after flouting a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ignoring rules on the sex offenders register. The 46-year-old was previously jailed for child porn possession in February 2018.
Defied Strict Internet Restrictions
On release, Kavanagh faced tough limits on internet use and had to let police inspect any devices he owned. But in October 2019, officers found him hiding two internet-capable mobiles at his Snodland home. One phone was accessed the very day he left prison. Neither device had been declared to police during surprise checks.
Failed to Sign On and Hide New Address
Kavanagh also skipped vital check-ins with the sex offenders register in 2019 and 2021. Worse, he moved house without telling authorities, breaching the terms set to keep tabs on him.
Sentenced to 10 Months in Jail
He pled guilty at Maidstone Crown Court and was sentenced on 13 October 2021 to 10 months behind bars for breaching the Prevention Order and four counts of failing to comply with notification rules.
Kent Police Investigator Natalie Armstrong said: “Kavanagh had every chance to turn his life around but ignored strict conditions meant to stop him reoffending. He showed a clear determination to access the internet, including online chatrooms.
“He shows no understanding of the seriousness of his actions and repeatedly obstructed police checks. These court orders protect children, and Kent Police will always pursue those who break them.”
