Border Force Officers Attacked by Migrants Armed with Tent Pegs
Kent Police are investigating after a shocking attack on Border Force officers by migrant men wielding sharpened tent pegs. The violent incidents took place overnight Thursday into Friday while hundreds of migrants, including women and babies, were being processed at a temporary holding facility.
Chaotic Scene at Overflow Holding Site
The attacks happened inside a makeshift structure set up to house the surging numbers of arrivals. Sources say the site is in total chaos as overwhelmed staff struggle to manage the relentless flow.
Record numbers landed over Thursday and Friday, including approximately 500 people rescued by the Border Force vessel Hurricane. Five more boats were recovered during the same period, adding to the pressure.
Security Ramped Up Amid Growing Tensions
Following the assaults, all security personnel have been issued stab-proof vests. The head of Custody and Care, responsible for processing migrants, was spotted visiting the site amid the turmoil.
At Dover, scenes showed boats being towed in by the Harbour Master as the Hurricane unloaded its latest arrivals. Ten coaches stood ready to transport the new arrivals away from the overwhelmed facility.
