Woman Stabbed to Death in Shocking Early Morning Attack on Burrard Road
At 6.24am on Thursday, 19 May, police were called to a brutal stabbing at a home on Burrard Road, E16. Paramedics found a 34-year-old woman with fatal stab wounds. Despite their desperate efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Man Arrested at Scene on Suspicion of Murder
A 33-year-old man, believed to be known to the victim, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. Police are working urgently to identify and inform the woman’s next of kin. The Met’s Specialist Crime Command has launched a full investigation, led by Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rogers.
“This is a tragic incident which understandably will cause shock to the local community,” said DCI Rogers. “My team of skilled homicide detectives is working tirelessly to piece together the events that led to this murder. We have arrested a man who remains in custody and are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”
Community Reassured as Police Increase Patrols
Detective Superintendent Jimi Tele, responsible for Public Protection in Newham, vowed support for locals. “Officers will be visible in the area to back up homicide detectives. If you have concerns, please speak to a local officer or your neighbourhood policing team,” he said.
“A young woman has lost her life under awful circumstances. We share the community’s worry and remain committed to tackling violence against women as a Met priority.”
