Burglary Fiend Vinny Guess Jailed for 9½ Years After £200k Armed Heist Spree
Vinny Guess, 30, has been locked up for nine and a half years after a terrifying string of seven burglaries across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. The burglary gang’s loot? Eight firearms, piles of cash, and jewellery worth around £200,000.
Armed Intruders Terrorise Home With Young Child
The horrific aggravated burglary happened in January 2022. The victim heard crashing noises from the back garden while in bed with her young child. Two masked intruders stormed inside, threatening her with a screwdriver to keep quiet. They smashed a safe and made off with the valuables.
Police Nail Guess Through Phone Data and CCTV
Despite balaclavas and attempts at wiping fingerprints, Vinny Guess’s trail couldn’t be covered up. Bedfordshire Police’s specialist Op Maze team pieced together CCTV footage and mobile phone locations to crack the case wide open.
Detective Constable Andy Boston said: “No one should feel unsafe in their own home. The impact of burglary isn’t just financial – it damages people’s sense of security and mental wellbeing. Guess is a prolific offender with no remorse. I’m pleased he’s going to spend considerable time behind bars.”
Judge Slams Guess for ‘Professional’ Crime Spree
The judge made it clear Guess was no desperate thief but a calculated criminal choosing burglary as his ‘profession’. He added: “Many victims suffered irreplaceable sentimental loss and a shattered sense of safety in their own homes – a right everyone is entitled to. Guess and his co-conspirators stole that from them.”
