Surrey Hairdresser Caught in Sexual Assault Scandal

Alan Luckhurst, 36, from Worcester Park, Surrey, has been found guilty of multiple sexual offences against young apprentices. The Kingston Crown Court convicted him on eight counts of sexual assault and two counts of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent on 26 January 2023.

Six-Month Jail Sentence Suspended

On 27 March 2023, Luckhurst was handed a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months. He also received a sexual harm prevention order banning him from managing or employing anyone under 18.

Victims Speak Out About Abuse

The shocking attacks came to light after two 17-year-old girls stepped forward. The first reported being assaulted during a hairdresser placement in 2017, while the second revealed abuse a few weeks into her apprenticeship in 2021.

Luckhurst denied all charges, claiming he was simply “a tactile person” and that one incident was just a head massage demonstration.

Police Call for More Victims to Come Forward

Detective Constable Natalie Alchin said: “Luckhurst abused his position as manager to exploit these young women when they were alone at work. The offences have had a serious impact on their lives.”

“Their bravery in coming forward and giving evidence is remarkable. We believe other victims may exist and urge them to speak out. Specialist support is available, and we are ready to listen.”
