A driver has had a lucky escape after his van leaves the Coastbound carriageway  of the M2 near Strood

An accident on the M2 coastbound caused significant disruption as a van skidded on black ice, left the carriageway, and overturned at around 4pm on Monday 8th January 2024 The incident occurred between junction 2 and junction 3.

Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports of the accident. The van, which was laden with cargo, ended up on its side after crashing through fencing. Fortunately, the driver managed to escape the accident with only minor injuries, although they were treated for shock and taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

As a result of the accident, one lane on the M2 coastbound is currently blocked, and the hard shoulder between junction 2 and junction 3 is also closed to traffic. Traffic is moving slowly in the area, and drivers are advised to exercise caution and consider alternative routes if possible.

The authorities are actively working to clear the wreckage and address the hazardous road conditions caused by black ice. Motorists are urged to be vigilant, particularly in cold weather, and adjust their driving to match the conditions to ensure their safety and that of others on the road.
