Vile Attack on Pride Flags at Forest Gate Station

Police were called early on Sunday, 23 June after a giant Pride flag outside Forest Gate Railway Station, Woodgrange Road, E7, was daubed with red paint. The hateful vandalism didn’t stop there.

More Flags Targeted Days Later

On Wednesday, 26 June, officers received reports of two more flags at the same spot being defaced with red paint. Detectives believe the same culprit struck both times, causing a stir in the local community.

Police Hunt Mystery Vandal Caught on Camera

Detective Inspector James Rush, leading the investigation, said: “We believe these offences happened between 5am and 5.30am on both 23 and 26 June. We’ve released an image of a person of interest captured on 26 June.”

“While their face is covered, someone in the area might recognise the distinctive clothing. If you think you know who it is — maybe a local customer or neighbour — please get in touch.”

DI Rush added: “We know providing info to police can feel intimidating but all tips will be handled sensitively. If you prefer to stay anonymous, please contact Crimestoppers.”
