Gunmen Strike Horror at Bondi Beach
Two gunmen sparked chaos at Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach on Sunday evening. Multiple people, including a police officer, were reportedly shot as panic swept the area.
Panic and Gunfire Near Bondi Pavilion
Witnesses say the suspects jumped from a car on Campbell Parade, near the Bondi Pavilion, at around 6:40pm and opened fire. Terrifying footage shows the men, dressed in black, firing shots close to the beachfront.
Dozens of terrified beachgoers bolted in every direction, fleeing the sand and nearby streets.
One mother described the horror as her daughters enjoyed a night swim with friends when the shots rang out. Emergency services rushed in fast, with paramedics treating the injured. Reports say as many as 50 shots were fired into the crowd.
Two Arrested After Festival Shooting
NSW Police confirmed two arrests linked to the shooting but have not yet revealed casualty figures. The area was crowded for the “Chanukah by the Sea” Hanukkah festival, meant to be a fun family night.
The force warned on X (formerly Twitter): “Police are responding to a developing incident at Bondi Beach and urge the public to AVOID the area. Anyone at the scene should take shelter. More information will follow.”
A government spokesperson added: “We are aware of an active security situation in Bondi. People nearby must follow police instructions.”
