Winnersh Man Jailed for Brutal Knife Attack in Reading
A 23-year-old man from Winnersh has been locked up for life after a savage stabbing in Reading. Rashane Odle-Mcleod was handed a life sentence at Reading Crown Court on Monday, 15 December, with a minimum of 17 years and four months behind bars.
The jury found him guilty of attempting to murder a man during a vicious knife attack on 9 April 2025. Odle-Mcleod also admitted to carrying a knife weeks earlier but was cleared of trying to pervert the course of justice.
Chilling Stabbing on Kennet Walk Estate
Odle-Mcleod spent hours prowling near the Kennet Walk estate, armed and ready to strike. Knowing his victim was close by, he waited in the shadows.
Just after 9pm, the victim—a man in his twenties—walked into a dark alley. That’s when Odle-Mcleod launched a brutal assault, stabbing him over a dozen times across his body and face. The frenzied attacker continued even as the victim lay helpless on the ground.
After the savage attack, Odle-Mcleod rifled through the victim’s pockets, stealing a mobile phone before running off.
Victim Survives But Faces Life-Changing Trauma
Emergency services administered first aid before rushing the victim to hospital. Thankfully, he survived but now faces life-altering injuries.
Odle-Mcleod was arrested four days later and charged on 16 April.
Police Crack Down on Knife Crime
“This sentence reflects the appalling violence inflicted on the victim and the impact it will have on him for the rest of his life,” said Detective Constable Michael Hope.
“Odle-Mcleod carried out a targeted and relentless attack in April and I hope this result offers the victim some justice at what is a really difficult time.”
