Police have nabbed a man following a terrifying attempted kidnap on Micheldever Road, Andover.
Victim Attacked by White Van Driver
At 5.32pm on Monday 2 March, a woman in her 50s was hit by a large white van before the driver grabbed her. He tried to drag her towards the back of the vehicle, but she fought back and managed to escape.
She quickly called the police and was rushed to the hospital with injuries to her knee, wrist, and nose. Fortunately, she has since been discharged.
Police Launch Urgent Investigation
Officers describe the suspect as a slim, white man in his 20s or 30s with dark hair, wearing a green fleece.
A 28-year-old man from Newquay was arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnap and remains in custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Dal Andrews stressed the force is taking the incident “extremely seriously” and is conducting house-to-house inquiries while reviewing CCTV footage.
“The woman and her family are being fully supported. We’re doing everything we can to find out what happened,” said DCI Andrews. “Extra patrols will be in the area to reassure the community.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Anyone who was near Micheldever Road around 5.30pm on Monday and saw the collision, white van, or the suspect is urged to come forward.
Police want dashcam, phone video, doorbell camera, or other CCTV footage that could aid the investigation.
