A 25-year-old man is set to face court following a stabbing on Worthing’s seafront.

Stabbing Shakes Worthing Seafront

Emergency services rushed to The Esplanade at around 3.20pm on Thursday, 5 March, after reports of a stabbing. A local man in his 30s was attacked and rushed to the hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Clayton Ellis Charged with Wounding

Police arrested Clayton Ellis, 25, of no fixed address, charging him with wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public place. He is due to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 9 March.

Investigation Ongoing, No Other Suspects

A 31-year-old Worthing man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

“Those involved are known to each other and I want to reassure the local community that we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident,” said Detective Constable Sophie Chaplain.
