Wallington Station Chaos After Person Hit by Train
Trains Halted in Early Morning Horror
Wallington station was shut down in the early hours after a person was tragically hit by a train between Sutton and West Croydon. Emergency services swarmed the scene, causing massive disruption on Southern rail lines.
Delays and Disruptions Hit Commuters
National Rail warned that all lines between Sutton and West Croydon would be closed, triggering severe delays, cancellations, and altered services. Initially, disruption was expected until 10am but later extended to 11am, with trains delayed up to 45 minutes.
The following stations remained out of service:
- Epsom Downs
- Banstead
- Belmont
- Carshalton Beeches
- Wallington
- Waddon
Passengers travelling between Epsom Downs, Sutton, and London were urged to delay their journeys until later in the morning.
Bus Routes Diverted, Road Blocked
Manor Road near Wallington station was partially blocked, forcing diversions on multiple bus routes, including 127, 151, 157, 410, 463, 612, 627, 633, and S4.
Trains Resume with Residual Delays
By 7:15am, trains started running as normal between Sutton and West Croydon, though residual delays continued to affect connections between Central London, Sutton, and Epsom.
British Transport Police confirmed: “A person has died following the casualty on the track.
