Police have hunted down four youths caught on camera after a tram driver was sprayed in the face with a suspected corrosive chemical. The shocking attack happened as the driver was finishing his shift in Hyson Green, Nottingham.

Driver Sprayed at Final Stop

The incident unfolded around 8pm on 5 February 2026. The driver had just announced the last stop on the tram at Shipstone Street and pulled into the depot. As he stepped out of his cabin, someone sprayed a bottle of what police believe is corrosive cleaning fluid directly into his face.

The driver suffered soreness and discomfort from liquid that got into his eye but, thankfully, no lasting injuries.

Police Appeal for Public Help

Nottinghamshire Police have reviewed CCTV footage and released images of four youths they want to identify. Officers believe these individuals may hold vital information to crack the case.

“The victim is very lucky not to have been left with worse injuries to his skin and eyesight,” said Police Constable Rob Garvey. “We urge anyone who recognises these youths to come forward and help our investigation.”
