A 22-year-old man from near Rye has been locked up for five years after raping a woman who kindly let him crash on her sofa.
Trust Betrayed in Home Invasion Attack
Jordan Osbourne, of Parkwood in Iden, was arrested in February 2022 after an 18-year-old woman reported the attack. The court heard how the victim had allowed Osbourne to stay at her home, but in the early hours of January 3, 2022, he followed her into her bedroom and raped her.
Justice Served at Brighton Crown Court
Supported by specially trained officers, the victim gave evidence that led to a four-day trial at Brighton Crown Court. On Friday, March 6, a jury found Osbourne guilty of rape. He was sentenced on March 20 at Hove Crown Court and also slapped with a 10-year restraining order to keep him away from the victim.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery, Urge Others to Speak Out
“Jordan Osbourne’s victim trusted him and allowed him to sleep in her home. He betrayed that trust in the worst way,” said Detective Constable Cally Fox. “I recognise the courage it takes to report incidents like these and the trauma caused by sexual offending. I would like to thank the victim for her bravery throughout this process.” “If you are a victim of sexual offending, please report it to police online or via 101. Always dial 999 in an emergency. We will support you and do all we can to get you justice.”
