Former Prime Minister Tony Blair has blasted the Left for turning a blind eye to rising antisemitic violence. He claims a dangerous “unholy alliance” between progressive groups and hardline Islamists is behind recent shocking attacks.
Blair Slams Soft Approach After London Ambulance Arson
Blair’s warning comes hot on the heels of a terrifying arson attack in Golders Green, North London, where four Jewish community ambulances were torched. Gas canisters inside exploded, sparking evacuations and chaos.
Writing in The Free Press, a blog run by CBS chief Bari Weiss, Blair said many progressive politicians genuinely oppose antisemitism. But he accused them of failing to challenge extremists who see all Jews as fair targets because of Israel.
“The problem is that, under pressure from party activists and parts of the Muslim community, many progressive politicians who do sincerely reject anti-Semitism are not making these arguments,” Blair warned.
He insists that ignoring this “literally ‘unholy alliance’” only lets antisemitism thrive. Blair grimly predicts more attacks unless the root ideology is tackled head-on.
Blair Calls Out Hypocrisy on Gaza Conflict
Sir Tony also criticised those who loudly condemn Israeli actions in Gaza but refuse to denounce Hamas’s brutal terror attack in October that sparked the conflict.
He backs former US President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza, calling it the “best” and “only hope” for the region. Blair sits on Trump’s Board of Peace and supports a vision where Hamas steps aside to allow a new, less extremist leadership.
“For decades, Gaza’s governance has been characterised by extremism, corruption, ineffective institutions and the complete absence of a route to prosperity,” Blair wrote, highlighting Gaza’s potential with its Mediterranean coastline and young population.
Two Arrested Over Ambulance Arson, Police Probe Islamist Links
Two British men, aged 47 and 45, have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life over the Golders Green Hatzola ambulance blaze. Both have been released on bail until April while investigations continue.
London’s Metropolitan Police Commissioner revealed cops are exploring whether an Islamist group, possibly linked to Iran, organised the attack.
Hatzola, founded in 1979, is a volunteer-run emergency medical service providing free care to north London residents. The brazen assault has shocked the community and intensified calls for political action against antisemitic hatred.
