Cora Upple has landed behind bars after repeatedly flouting a restraining order designed to keep her away from a woman she had never even met. The 22-year-old from Rainham subjected her victim to a relentless campaign of online harassment.
Hundreds of Harassing Messages Trigger Court Action
The drama began in July 2023 when a restraining order was slapped on Upple after she bombarded the victim with hundreds of social media messages and posts. Despite this, Upple showed no signs of stopping.
New Social Media Accounts, Same Harassment
By November 2024, the court had tightened the restrictions after multiple breaches. But just six months later, Upple created a fresh social media profile and targeted the victim’s family, sending friend requests to keep up her campaign.
When the requests were ignored, she fired off a second attempt from a new account. Police arrested her on 2 July, and she was charged the very next day.
One Year and Seven Months Inside
Upple appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on 26 March. She pleaded guilty to two breaches of the restraining order and breaching a suspended sentence. The judge sentenced her to one year and seven months behind bars, plus slapped a five-year restraining order on her.
“Upple has targeted her victim for years, repeatedly contacting and harassing her and her family through multiple different social media profiles,” said PC Sophie Lawrie. “This repeated and unwanted behaviour has had an untold effect on her victim. We hope this outcome will allow her to move on without fear of being contacted again.”
“Harassment can take many forms. Anyone feeling targeted should come forward and report it.”
