Cora Upple Jailed for Stalking Stranger Online
Hundreds of Harassing Messages Spark Court Action
Cora Upple, 22, from Rainham, has been locked up after ignoring a restraining order meant to keep her away from a woman she had never even met. The relentless online harassment began in July 2023 when Upple flooded her victim’s social media with hundreds of abusive messages and posts.
New Profiles, Same Relentless Abuse
Despite court restrictions tightened by November 2024 following multiple breaches, Upple refused to stop. She created new social media accounts to target her victim’s family, even sending friend requests to stay close. When ignored, she tried again with fresh accounts to continue her torment.
Police Step In — Jail Time Delivered
Upple was arrested on 2 July and charged the very next day. At Maidstone Crown Court on 26 March, she pleaded guilty to two breaches of the restraining order and violating a suspended sentence. The judge sentenced her to a hefty one year and seven months behind bars and imposed a five-year restraining order.
“Upple has targeted her victim for years, repeatedly contacting and harassing her and her family through multiple different social media profiles,” said PC Sophie Lawrie. “This repeated and unwanted behaviour has had an untold effect on her victim. We hope this outcome will allow her to move on without fear of being contacted again.”
“Harassment can take many forms. Anyone feeling targeted should come forward and report it.”
