Motorcyclist Seriously Injured Following Van Collision on A281

A motorcyclist in his 60s sustained serious injuries after colliding with a van on the A281 Alfold By-Pass near Cranleigh on Thursday morning.

Incident Leads to Prolonged Road Closure

The crash occurred at approximately 11.45am on 2 April. Emergency services responded swiftly to reports of the collision involving a van and motorcycle. The A281 was closed for over seven hours while crews managed the scene and carried out investigations. The road remained closed until shortly after 7pm when it was reopened to traffic.

Van Driver Arrested on Dangerous Driving Charges

The motorcyclist was transported to hospital with serious injuries. Meanwhile, the van driver, a 24-year-old man from Crawley, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Video Evidence

Surrey Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or was in the vicinity of the A281 between 11.30am and 11.45am to come forward. Officers are especially interested in dashcam, CCTV, mobile phone, or helmet camera footage that may show the collision or events leading up to it.
