Jim Davis, 73, a well-loved local figure, has died two days after a serious assault in Cheltenham. The grandfather, known for his kindness and storytelling, was hospitalised following an incident on Honeybourne Way and passed away on Friday night, April 10.

Jim’s family spoke out, calling him “a friend to many” and praising his warm, generous spirit. “Jimmy was one of the kindest people anyone could ever meet,” they said. “He was caring, compassionate and always put others first.” The family added, “His love of motorcycles brought him friendships everywhere he went, and his stories brought joy to so many lives. Our lives will never be the same without him.”
Police Investigate Assault, Two Teens Arrested
Gloucestershire Police confirmed they responded to a serious assault report around 7.30pm on Wednesday, April 8. Two teenagers, aged 16 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of murder. While no further action is being taken against the 16-year-old, the 17-year-old remains on police bail as enquiries continue. The Major Crime Investigation Team is now leading the probe into Jim’s death.
