Knife Crime Crackdown: Police Send Strong Warning
Sergeant Sibyl Beaumont of City of London Police said:
“This was a good result where we were able to quickly make an arrest after which we seized a large knife. Powell’s actions raised suspicion, and during the stop and search, the eight-inch blade was found. This shows the power of our proactive plain-clothed patrols in keeping streets safe and people feeling secure in the City. People carrying these large knives aim to intimidate and spread fear. We want to send a strong message: if you’re caught with a weapon, we will arrest and prosecute you.” Powell pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article and breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order. He was sentenced to nine months in prison.
