Brothers Tommy-Lee Bavin, 20, and Frankie Bavin, 27, from Epsom were sentenced after a police pursuit on Long Grove Road on 11 July 2024. Officers spotted the pair driving an uninsured vehicle with mismatched registration details before the driver failed to stop, leading to a chase. During the pursuit, police witnessed a bag being thrown from the vehicle containing cocaine worth up to £1,600.
Drugs Thrown From Vehicle
Officers saw the bag discarded from the passenger side of the speeding car as the brothers tried to evade police on Hook Road. The recovered bag contained multiple packets of cocaine and evidence of drug supply.
Mobile Phones Reveal Supply Messages
Analysis of the brothers’ phones uncovered texts referring to the police pursuit and disposal of drugs during the chase. Further messages indicated involvement in supplying controlled Class A substances.
Arrests And Evidence Seized
Both men were arrested at their homes on 23 September 2024. Police confiscated their phones and discovered small amounts of herbal cannabis, adding to their drug-related offences.
Sentencing Outcomes
- Tommy-Lee Bavin received a three-year detention sentence at a Young Offender Institution, covering possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, additional drug supply offences, possession of Class B drugs, and handling stolen goods.
- Frankie Bavin was given a two-year suspended prison sentence and fined £1,823. He is due to face a separate driving-related hearing later this month connected to this case.
