On the evening of Monday 8 June, Sussex Roads Policing Unit officers in Scaynes Hill, Haywards Heath Road, stopped a local driver after a member of the public tipped them off about suspected motoring offences. The driver, spotted waiting to avoid detection after noticing the marked police car, was caught shortly after the police left and then remained nearby to monitor.
Timely Public Tip-off
A member of the public alerted officers to a vehicle that appeared to be waiting for the marked police car to leave before moving off. This crucial information allowed officers to keep the driver under surveillance immediately after concluding their initial enquiry elsewhere on Haywards Heath Road.
Multiple Offences Detected
When the suspect vehicle was stopped minutes later, roadside checks revealed the driver was committing several offences, including no insurance, no tax, and no MOT. The vehicle was seized on the spot as a result.
Enforcement Anytime Anywhere
Sussex officers thanked the public for their valuable assistance and reminded drivers that police enforcement can occur at any time and any location in the county.
