Cop Hurt as Escape Attempt Ends in Crash on Common Road
Officer Injured After Suspected Drug Stop Gone Wrong
Just after 1am on Thursday 17 September 2020, a routine patrol on Common Road turned dangerous. Police stopped a grey Ford Kuga with two occupants—a man and a woman—parked by the roadside.
During a drug search, the man suddenly tried to drive off, crashing into an officer before speeding away. The injured cop was treated for leg wounds at a local hospital.
High-Speed Getaway Foiled by Police Helicopter
After the hit-and-run, police launched a swift search with ground patrols and a helicopter. The stolen vehicle was found abandoned in a layby on Pilgrims Way near Bull Lane, Eccles.
Officers seized a haul of suspected drugs inside the car.
Arrest Made, Driver Still on the Run
A woman in her 20s from Maidstone was arrested and taken into custody linked to the incident. Meanwhile, detectives are hunting for the male driver and urge anyone with info to come forward.
