Man in 30s Left Fighting for Life After Brutal Packer Street Beating

At just 3am on Sunday, February 27, chaos erupted on Packer Street in the town centre when a man in his 30s was found unconscious after being punched and collapsing to the ground.

Two Arrested Over Violent Assault

Police quickly swooped and arrested two men, aged 23 and 25, on suspicion of assault. Both remain in custody as officers continue to piece together what happened.

Detective Inspector Pleads for Witnesses

“This assault has left the victim fighting for his life. It is our hope that he makes a full recovery,” said Detective Inspector Matthew Hamer of GMP’s Rochdale district.

“Though two suspects are in custody, our investigation is very much ongoing. We urge anyone who saw what happened – especially locals and taxi drivers – to come forward. Dashcam or mobile footage could be crucial.”
