A3 Hindhead Tunnel Shut After Multi-Vehicle Smash
The southbound A3 Hindhead tunnel is closed following a multi-car crash involving a car and a large goods vehicle hauling fresh fish. Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 8.30am.
Thankfully, no injuries or trapped drivers have been reported.
Chaos Near Tunnel Entrance: Hard Road Closures in Place
The crash happened just 200 metres from the tunnel entrance. Police have enforced hard road closures. Vehicles are being turned around and escorted back via the Thursley entry slip road.
Highways England confirmed the tunnel is shut between the A283 and A333 junctions. Expect delays of at least 15 minutes stretching for miles down the southbound carriageway.
They assure crews are on site working to reopen the road ASAP.
Long Delays Expected – Follow Diversion Routes Now
Drivers are warned to brace for significant disruption and extra journey time. Travellers heading through the area should consider re-routing and keep an eye on road signs and official updates.
Follow the solid triangle diversion symbol:
- Leave A3 southbound at B3002 Headley Road junction.
- Turn right onto B3002, head through Grayshott, continuing 4 miles through Headley Down and Headley.
- At B3004 Lindford junction, turn left onto B3004 and follow for four miles into Liphook.
- At Longmoor Road junction, turn right, continue one mile to A3 Griggs Green interchange.
- Rejoin A3 southbound.
