Married Bedfordshire cop suspended for sending racy messages to woman
Officer’s flirty texts exposed
Bedfordshire Police officer Ryan Barnes hit a 32-year-old mother with cheeky messages calling her “gorgeous.” He urged her to watch him on Channel 4’s 24 Hours In Police Custody – boasting about his TV appearances to impress her.
Barnes didn’t stop there. He sent a photo of himself on Twitter, asked her to rate his looks, begged for her phone number, and even requested a video call. Things got explicit when he bluntly admitted, “I’m a bit horny.”
Public complaint sparks suspension
The married officer, on the force since 2009, was suspended after a member of the public lodged a complaint about his inappropriate behaviour.
The mother explained, “I felt like I had to out him publicly because he could be messaging others who might feel intimidated, given he’s a senior police officer.”
Victim shocked by cop’s foolishness
“It seemed like he was trying to impress me by being a cop and having appeared on that TV show,” she said.
“At first, I thought it was someone faking it. There’s no way a real officer could be this stupid.”
Police review ongoing
Assistant Chief Constable Sharn Basra confirmed the standards department is currently reviewing the case.
