Man’s Hip Shattered in Shocking Reading Attack

Thames Valley Police are hunting a thug after a 44-year-old man was violently assaulted and suffered a broken hip in Reading.

Assailant Strikes Without Warning

The attack happened around 7pm on Thursday, 15 October at the busy junction of Oxford Road and Weald Rise. The victim and his brother were approached suddenly by the offender, who grabbed the man by his hoodie and swung him violently to the ground. The victim slipped and broke his hip in the fall.

The attacker then fled back up Weald Rise, disappearing into the evening.

Police Seek Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

The offender is described as a skinny, white man around 6ft tall, in his mid-thirties. He had dark hair and spoke with an Eastern European accent, possibly Polish. He was wearing black combat trousers and a dark grey jacket.

The victim was rushed to Royal Berkshire Hospital but has since been discharged.

Detective Constable Hugh Bailey, leading the investigation, said:

“I’m appealing to anyone who saw the assault to come forward. Oxford Road would have been busy at the time, so drivers with dash-cam footage, please check your recordings.”
