The iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris was evacuated and shut down ‘until further notice’ after a man began scaling its exterior this afternoon.
Man Starts Climb from Second Level
At around 2.15pm local time, the daredevil started his risky ascent from the tower’s second floor. Chaos ensued as visitors inside were instructed to remain where they were while police tried to talk him down.
Authorities Scramble to Resolve Incident
A spokesman confirmed: “The tower is currently closed as we work to resolve the situation. We advise visitors to reschedule their trips.”
