Tragedy in Blackpool: Young Couple Die in Devastating House Fire

A horrific blaze ripped through a family home on Peter Street, Blackpool, in the early hours, killing a man and woman in their 20s. Their two children are now in hospital, one in a critical condition.

Parents Lost, Children Hospitalised

Chief Superintendent Mike Gladwin of Lancashire Police confirmed the victims were the parents of the injured kids. He said, “We understand they lived in the property and are the parents of the injured children. We have evacuated a small number of properties while we conduct our investigations.”

Emergency Services Rush to Scene

Firefighters and police were called out at 2:39 AM following reports of a fire trapping people inside. Sadly, the young woman was found dead at the scene, while the man later died at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

“Our thoughts are with their loved ones at this devastating time,” a police statement said. “Two children have been taken to hospital for treatment. One of them is in very poor condition.”

Investigation Underway, Community Urged for Patience

Authorities are still working to discover the cause of the fire, keeping an open mind and have made no arrests so far.

Chief Superintendent Gladwin appealed to the community:

“This incident has resulted in two people losing their lives, and my thoughts are with their loved ones at this extremely distressing time. I know this tragic news will be met with great sadness locally. I ask for patience and that people avoid unhelpful and upsetting speculation.”

Call for Witnesses

Police urge anyone who saw the fire or captured footage on CCTV, doorbell cameras, or dashcams around Peter Street during the early morning to come forward.

Report any information to Lancashire Police by calling 101 or via their website, quoting log 97 of 17th July.
