Firefighters Race to Blaze at Southampton’s Albion Towers

Seven fire crews sprang into action after a fire broke out at Albion Towers in Southampton this morning. The teams from St Mary’s, Eastleigh, 1, and Hightown were called just after 10am to tackle the flames.

Blaze Now Extinguished, No Injuries Reported

Police officers also rushed to the scene to assist. Hampshire Fire and Rescue have confirmed the fire is now out, and thankfully, no one was hurt.

Cause of Fire Revealed: Unattended Cigarette

The fire broke out while council contractors were repairing ceiling damage in the building. Some residents evacuated themselves, but many stuck to the official ‘stay put’ policy. Officials have since established the cause was due to an unattended cigarette.
