Fire Killer Mum Mairead Philpott to Walk Free After Just 8½ Years
Mairead Philpott, 38, who was jailed for setting fire to her home that killed her six children, is set for release next month after serving only half her 17-year sentence. The fire in 2012 claimed the lives of her kids aged 5 to 13, shocking the nation.
Kids Dead in Blaze Planned for Bigger Home
Philpott and her husband Mick, along with a friend, Paul Mosley, deliberately torched their three-bedroom council house in Derby in a twisted attempt to secure a larger property. Tragically, the blaze killed their children — Duwayne (13), Jade (10), John (9), Jack (8), Jesse (6), and Jayden (5).
New Identity and Taxpayer-Funded Hostel
The taxpayer will cover thousands of pounds as Philpott is rehoused in a hostel under a new name. She now calls herself Louise Dunn, though fellow inmates still refer to her by her real name. A source said:
“Mairead is pleased as punch about her early release. She’s not popular inside and gets a hard time because her crime was so sickening.”
Mick Philpott’s Disturbing Behaviour
While identifying his children’s bodies, Mick Philpott reportedly made lewd remarks, flirting with mortuary staff. Retired Detective Superintendent Paul Callum revealed:
“He chatted up the mortuary technicians and made inappropriate sexual comments about their breasts. It was shocking behaviour given the circumstances.”
The grim saga of the Philpott family continues to haunt Derby as Mairead prepares to re-enter society.
