Five hurt in high-speed police chase crash on A25 Oxted Road, Godstone
Chaos struck the A25 Oxted Road in Godstone late Friday night after a silver Kia Sedona led police on a wild chase. The pursuit ended in a serious smash that left five people injured and police scrambling for witnesses.
High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Crash
Just after 10:15pm on March 7, officers spotted the suspicious silver Kia Sedona. When they ordered it to stop, the driver floored it, sparking a high-speed chase through Godstone. Seconds later, the Kia slammed into another vehicle on the busy A25.
The collision left three passengers in the other car injured, with two critically hurt. Both occupants of the Kia were also hurt. All five victims were rushed to hospital for urgent care.
Man Arrested Over String of Offences
A 36-year-old man from St Leonards-on-Sea was detained at the scene. He faces a slew of charges including:
- Causing serious injury by dangerous driving
- Failing to stop for police
- Driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs
- Driving without licence or insurance
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Handling stolen goods
- Fraud by false representation
He has since been released on bail as investigations continue.
Surrey Police Launch Witness Appeal
Officers are urgently seeking witnesses, especially anyone who saw the Kia’s reckless driving before the crash. Dashcam and CCTV footage from the Godstone or A25 area could prove vital.

Investigation and Road Reopening
Since the crash happened during a police pursuit, Surrey Police has referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). They will review if police actions played a role and decide if further probes are needed.
The A25 Oxted Road, a major commuter route between Godstone and Oxted, was closed temporarily while emergency crews worked the scene but has now reopened.
