Body Found After Bolton Fire Sparks Police Probe
A gruesome discovery has sparked a major investigation in Bolton after human remains were found inside a property damaged by fire.
Fire Breaks Out in Suspected Cannabis Farm
Greater Manchester Police and Fire Rescue were called to Bolton Road in Farnworth on Monday, 27 November 2023, following reports of a fire at around 1pm. During a search of the premises on Saturday 2 December, police found human remains. Early indications suggest the fire started on the first floor, which is suspected to have been used as a cannabis farm.
Police Treat Fire as Suspicious
Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Naismith, leading the investigation, said:
“Work is ongoing to identify the deceased. We are committed to supporting any family members and keeping the community informed. This loss of life is a tragedy.”
He confirmed the fire is being treated as suspicious and vowed any criminal responsibility would be uncovered and dealt with swiftly.
Police Seek Public Help
The investigation team urgently want information about the building’s use prior to the fire and are appealing to anyone with knowledge or footage of the incident — including CCTV, mobile phone, or dashcam videos — to come forward.
