M20 SHUT DOWN Overnight Over Distress Call
The M20 motorway was shut both ways in the early hours on Thursday after a person in distress threatened to harm themselves on a bridge.
Police Rush to Scene Between J9 and J10
Kent Police were called just before 3am to a bridge near the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, between Junction 9 and Junction 10. Officers found the individual perched on the wrong side of the safety railing, prompting a tense rescue operation.
Traffic Held Up, Lorries Stalled
- Traffic was stopped in both directions, with roadblocks set up about half a mile from both junctions by Highways Agency officers.
- Lorries involved in Operation Brock were also caught up in the closure, causing delays on this vital route.
Safe Resolution and Traffic Release
The incident has now been safely resolved. The individual is receiving the necessary treatment, and traffic has been allowed to move again.
