Kent Police Crack Down on Road Safety Over Easter Weekend
The Easter weekend is one of the busiest times for organised bike rides. Kent Police made sure riders took proper safety precautions and kept other road users in check.
Motorcycle Officers Target Bikers at Blue Bell Hill
On Sunday 17 April 2022, motorcycle officers stopped by Blue Bell Hill services, between Chatham and Maidstone. They checked riders on number plates, exhaust systems, and other legal requirements, handing out vital advice.
High-Visibility Patrols and Speed Checks Across Kent
Police carried out high-visibility patrols on the roads between Ashford and Rye. Enforcement activities targeted drivers and riders on the busy A2070. Speed checks took place in Appledore, Ashford town centre, Charing, and Harrietsham.
19 Speeding Tickets and One Vehicle Seized
The operation led to 19 speeding offence reports. Other violations included seatbelt offences, inappropriate infant restraints, and various other breaches. One vehicle was seized for no 1.
Sergeant Grant Steele of the Roads Policing Unit said: “The safety of all road users is our top priority and we were pleased to enjoy such positive and friendly engagement with the motorcyclists and other motorists we engaged with at the weekend.
“Motorcyclists are especially vulnerable to being seriously injured in collisions. We are committed to educating them on safe riding while cracking down on reckless drivers who speed or use mobile phones behind the wheel.
“We will continue these operations to reduce collisions and keep everyone safe.”
