Prison Murder Probe Launched at HMP Maidstone
The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate has launched a murder investigation after a man died inside HMP Maidstone.
Emergency Called to Prison
Kent Police were alerted at 3.33pm on Thursday, 9 December 2021, following concerns over the welfare of an inmate.
Inmate Dies at the Scene
South East Coast Ambulance Service rushed to the prison, but the man, in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical teams. His next of kin have been informed.
Suspect in Custody
A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody as inquiries continue.
