Man Arrested After Hit-and-Run Assault in Bristol Close

Police rushed to Bristol Close at around 9pm on Friday 5 July 2024 following reports of a hit-and-run collision. The driver allegedly exited his vehicle and assaulted the victim, who then fled the scene.

Officers arrested a 46-year-old local man on suspicion of assault. He was taken into custody and later bailed, with orders to return to the police station for further investigation.

Child Struck by Car Flees Scene

Detective Sergeant John-Paul Foley of North Division CID revealed the victim was a child who was hit by the car but managed to run away with another boy. “The child did not appear to be seriously injured, but we want to speak to him or his parents to confirm this,” said DS Foley.

Despite efforts, officers have been unable to identify or locate the child so far. They are urging anyone who knows the boy or witnessed the incident to come forward.

Police Seek Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Authorities appealed for witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to get in touch. Drivers with dashcam footage and residents with private CCTV are also urged to review and share any relevant recordings.
