Sexual Assault Horror Rocks Stevenston at Dawn

Ayrshire detectives have launched a desperate hunt after a woman was sexually assaulted in Stevenston early on Saturday, September 9, 2023. The shocking attack took place around 5.45am near Millhill Road, known locally as Mill Dam.

Man Approached Victim Before Fleeing Scene

Police say the suspect, a white male aged 20 to 30, approached the woman on the walkway and tried to strike up a conversation before launching the assault. He then fled towards Stevenston Cross.

Police Plead for CCTV, Witnesses to Step Forward

Detective Sergeant Andrea Templeton, from Saltcoats CID, said: “It’s vital we trace the person responsible for this incident, which has left the woman extremely shaken. Officers are patrolling regularly, and we’re pulling out all the stops to catch him.”

She urged anyone who was near Mill Dam around the time to come forward with info. Locals with CCTV, doorbell cameras, or dashcams are also asked to check footage and contact police if they spot anything suspicious.
